South Beach Diet, Day 18 (Phase II starting) - Still in Chattanooga

Starting Phase II today. Had a couple of cheats yesterday. We’ll see how this affects the diet. I almost think it should be okay. I didn’t go nuts on the cheats, meaning I didn’t eat everything in sight just because I had strayed a little.

Today I will start Phase II eating and we will see over the course of the next week if a little cheat in Phase I can be overcome on the South Beach Diet.

Later that night…

Okay, we are home now in NC. I will breakdown my day, but I have been looking into the South Beach Diet book and I made a couple of mistakes today. I’ll explain as I list the foods I ate:

  • scrambled eggs (this is OK on phase II)
  • whole wheat mini-bagel (this is OK too, but this is probably all the “complex” carbs I should have had today)
  • Hamburger patty (this is OK)
  • 1 piece of whole wheat toast with “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” (This would have been ok if not for the mini-bagel)
  • 4 Mcdonalds nuggets - Not great, but not too bad
  • 30 peanuts (these are ok in this amount)
  • A handful of sugar free candies during travel (these are okay)
  • coffee with non-dairy creamer (this really should be decaf, but I can’t do that and remain conscious)
  • 1 cup of Earl Grey tea with Splenda (ok - again, should be decaf)
  • 1 six-inch Subway turkey sandwhich on wheat bread - (This is not OK on Phase II. One thing I found though was that this was listed as a food to “avoid OR eat rarely” so maybe this one time is not so bad and I won’t have to go back to Phase I to “reset my insulin resistance” - That’s from the SBD book.

I did my workout today as well so maybe that will help. Tomorrow morning I will be back to my regular weigh-ins and will be much more diligent on the Phase II eating plan.
